Assault Weapons Ban Wanted By Some Members Of Congress

More than 50 members of Congress sent a letter to President Barack Obama urging him to enforce a ban on importing assault weapons.

The 53 lawmakers, all Democrats, say many of these guns are later smuggled south to arm Mexico's drug cartels.

The assault weapons ban has been in place for close to two decades, but the lawmakers said in their letter The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has quietly abandoned the ban in recent years.

The ATF declined to comment on the issue.

The agency estimates 90 percent of weapons seized in Mexico come from the United States.

If many of these guns are smuggled south into Mexico, then maybe these lawmakers ought to be spending their energy on border security.

That would be the answer if this was really about smuggled automatic weapons. But of course, it is not. It's about another way to punish criminals by removing weapons from the rest of us.

While there may be some specialized weapons (.50 cal) that are heading South, those 90% plus statistics of US weapons being used by the drug cartels are efn propaganda blsht! Oh there are masses of weapons being smuggled into Mexico on the Southern border, only problem is that it is Mexico's Southern border, not ours. I'd love to know where to get the fully automatic AKs, RPGs and hand grenades that the cartels are using. The last time I checked, my local WalMart was all out:sarc:

If you get the 2-pack case the opener should be included.
Also, the ammo is consistent but damn, they beat the shit out of my last order and around 70 rounds of one tin were ruined and I haven't opened the other banged up tin to see the damage in that one. The opener was in there, though.
